Dear Portia, this is my challenge: my Māori Nana showed us our faith with bare feet in the vege garden, hoeing and listening. My mum opened the New Testament as heart felt codes for how we should behave to be good humans. The Community my own family joined worked and worshiped on a windswept little Island, where prayer was sea and sky; quiet companionable prayer in a earth floor chapel. It was the happiest time of my life. Now I'm in town attending church with our very beautiful book of liturgy, and good people. I love the diversity of this city community. Yet now when I open the Bible I'm longing to sit quietly with Jesus, but my top brain insists on an intellectual debate. I end up feeling a fraud.
