Mudroom i was inspired because you said "to get out of the mess". life can be messy. truth prevails and Gods light is so empowering :) here's my story. It is honor to be writing to pitch an article Idea for you. I only write non fiction and I love God so much. He works through me and I create beautiful ideas that I bring to fruitation through his grace and presence in all the days of my life. Here is "PAW IT FORWARD".
A year and half ago my little rescue dog sonny and I were out on a june summers day. we always took walks together for hours and sometimes when people weren't looking I would sneak sonny into the queens of martyrs church in forest hills ny where I reside and pray and light a candle. After my travels that day with my dear sonny I came up with an idea. It would include senior citizens, cancer patients, and physically disabled men and women. They would have a dog and as you know walking a dog two times a day in ny prices 30.00 per day. sonny and I would do it for free. we would meet with the member under those requirements and we would work with the member as well. listening to their life stories, their challanges, their families, and their hardships. it will all be very private and if someone was a little pesky or nosy I would say "I am the dog walker. and she or he is doing just fine". I worked very hard on this idea of mine with sonny. I believe in the human spirit and to treat others how you want to be treated. I believe in human values, and respect that when someone is up great. but if someone is down you lift them up and you make them feel special. The dog was an added bonus. It saved each member 400-500.00 per month of savings that they could now spend on a medical expense or something nice for themselves. Whatever to make this idea come to fruition with sonny we did together. It was so successful its been in 10 newspapers including the new york post, channel news 1 newyork, cbs calling, and in the UK and Dublin this month at Be Kind Magazine. Its expanded to well over 68 volunteers in three communities, and this year at the Gilda's club for cancer patients. It even inspired a little chapter in vermont that I taught a nice women what to do, how to do it, and now she too runs a little chapter. I incorporate all volunteers and members as young as 15 to 101 years old. If the member would like to walk a little with wheelchair or walker they are most welcome and we help them with that physical therapy aspect too. You can find us on pawitforwardny.com and donations are always welcome as it goes to more communties beautifying humanity in God's light and even gets some of the patients flowers to cheer them up. When writing to you what I love so much about the work Im doing is God spelt backwards is Dog. and you can't get more joy then that. My next venture with Paw It Forward is to reach out as I have to local shelters for dogs that seem broken or hopeless. They have been in the shelter for more then a year and they become discouraged and very sad. So about 3 months ago people now started fostering or rescuing a dog that is there a very long time and we at paw it forward ny provide a service so that the senior or physically disabled person has a companion and we do all the other added bonuses for free to allow the dog a great life. Its a win win all around. My motto in life is that the human spirit and the value of a person should always be greeted and uplifted of their talents and what makes them special. But if people that get a little nosy and I just say Im the dog walker. I chuckle and say that's okay let people think what they want. God knows. In closing, my little dog sonny passed away sadly of cancer this june 2nd. his legacy lives on and he has touched so many many lives in the community. I gave him the world and he gave it right back.
If you would like more of an article submission I have been published in the past as a staff writer and journalist so Im very well aware of how to write that way. Hope to be in touch and love your magazine.
